In a sentence

Network configuration connects the unit to your internal LAN so employees can use it through their PC browsers. You need one wired RJ-45 LAN port, supporting up to 10GbE, or Wi-Fi 7. After required initial OS setup and updates, internet access is optional for core local AI use. Maintenance has three layers: a manufacturer warranty, FIXER software support, and updates applied online or by USB. The Japanese offer specifies a three-year warranty with no monthly usage or license renewal fees, excluding operating expenses. Confirm overseas coverage and terms before purchase.

THREE WAYS

Three connection patterns: unit only, LAN only, or LAN plus internet

A new smartphone powers on and takes photos before joining Wi-Fi, but you connect it to share with family. Sovereign GaiXer follows a similar pattern. It runs by itself; connect it to your LAN for company-wide use. Internet connectivity is a separate choice.

LAN + internetApply updates onlineInternetGaiXer unitInternal LAN(Ethernet / Wi-Fi 7)PCPCPCUpdate in the admin console

In every pattern, core local AI processing and internal document storage stay inside the unit. Enabling network access does not by itself upload those documents. External services and integrations, including web-search queries, require a separate review of data flows and settings.

Pattern 1 / Like a phone before Wi-Fi

Unit only (standalone)

Attach a monitor, keyboard and mouse, complete setup and check the first response. You can do this without a LAN cable. The support-page videos cover these steps.

Pattern 2 / Like using only home Wi-Fi

Internal LAN only (isolated network)

Connect the unit to the LAN for access through employees’ PC browsers. No internet connection is used. Core functions work in deliberately disconnected environments such as factories and research facilities. Transfer updates by USB or similar media.

Pattern 3 / Like Wi-Fi plus a mobile connection

Internal LAN plus internet

With internet access, administrators can apply updates through the admin console. The difference in these connection patterns is update convenience. Local AI processing remains on the device; review any enabled external services or integrations separately.

See disconnected operation on the security and demonstrations page. The free security questionnaire responses (PDF, Japanese) address standard IT review questions in advance.
DECIDE

Eight decisions to make with IT before delivery

You may need approval to connect a smartphone to corporate Wi-Fi. Sovereign GaiXer is similar. Basic installation is illustrated as roughly 30 minutes once prerequisites are ready; first-time OS setup and updates take additional time and need temporary internet access. The company must also decide where to connect it. There are eight items to agree on.

DECIDE 01

Which network to use

Use the existing LAN or a separate AI network. After required initial OS setup and updates, internet access is optional for core local AI use, so an isolated network also works. Choose according to your security policy.

DECIDE 02

Wired or Wi-Fi, and which port

RJ-45 supports 10BASE-T through 10GBASE-T onboard, so it can connect to an existing compatible switch. Wi-Fi 7 is also available. Check for a LAN port near the intended location.

DECIDE 03

How to assign an address

After connection, the unit receives an address automatically through DHCP. Many organizations can use this default. If servers must have fixed addresses, configure one later using the static-IP instructions.

DECIDE 04

Whether to allow internet access

With internet access, apply updates in the admin console. Without it, obtain the update on a connected computer and transfer it to the unit using USB or similar media. Both operating approaches are supported.

DECIDE 05

Who will administer it

Create the administrator account during setup. Administrator and user roles are separate. Users are registered in the admin console, with bulk CSV support and no registration-count limit.

DECIDE 06

What to attach to the connection request

The security questionnaire responses (PDF, Japanese) can accompany internal network approval and security review. Responses cover data location, encryption, vulnerability handling and support in a reusable format.

DECIDE 07

Who applies updates, and when

Updates can be applied when the administrator chooses. Agree on timing under your change-management policy, for example once a month outside business hours.

DECIDE 08

Data handling and erasure at disposal

Data is stored inside the unit, with no backup or transmission to an external cloud. Storage uses an NVMe SSD supporting self-encryption. Data-erasure instructions are provided for disposal. Check alignment with internal retention policies.

An analogy

When changing phones, deciding which plan to use can take longer than setup. Similarly, agreeing on these eight items in advance supports the roughly 30-minute installation estimate, assuming the environment is ready. Specialist assistance is available through the Japanese GaiXer Care option: 10 hours for JPY 300,000 before tax. Overseas availability and terms require confirmation.

STATIC IP

How to fix the IP address: start automatically and change it later

The unit’s OS, NVIDIA DGX OS based on Ubuntu, automatically receives an address when connected to a configured LAN, much as a phone joins home Wi-Fi. An automatically assigned address may change after a restart or lease change. If you need a stable address for users or your server policy requires it, use either of the following methods.

Method A / No unit-side changes (recommended)

DHCP reservation: fix it on the network side

IT configures the DHCP server to assign the same address to this unit every time. The unit stays in automatic mode, while the address remains fixed. IT needs its MAC address, the unique network-interface identifier, available under the wired connection’s gear icon → Details.

Method B / Configure the unit manually

Set the address in the unit’s settings

Obtain four values from IT: IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS. Enter them using the monitor attached to the unit. This uses graphical settings, without specialist commands.

Method B: five on-screen steps

  • 1. Obtain the four values: ask IT for the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server address for a static configuration.
  • 2. Open Settings: on the unit’s monitor, select the network icon at the top right, open Settings, then choose Network from the left menu.
  • 3. Open the connection’s gear icon: select the gear in the Wired section. For Wi-Fi, select the gear for the relevant Wi-Fi connection.
  • 4. Choose Manual under IPv4: change IPv4 Method from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual. Enter the address, netmask and gateway, switch automatic DNS off, enter the DNS address, and select Apply.
  • 5. Turn the connection off and on, then check: reconnect to apply the new address. Open that address from a company PC’s browser and confirm the sign-in page appears.

Choosing automatic or fixed addressing (as of September 2026)

Give users the IP address: the unit may also be reachable as “device-name.local,” but this mDNS name resolution may not work on corporate networks. Providing the fixed IP address is more reliable. Notify users whenever the address changes.

For IT staff using commandsNetworkManager manages the unit’s network. From a terminal, use nmcli connection show to find the connection name, then run
sudo nmcli connection modify "connection-name" ipv4.method manual ipv4.addresses 192.168.1.50/24 ipv4.gateway 192.168.1.1 ipv4.dns 192.168.1.1
followed by sudo nmcli connection up "connection-name" to apply it. Addresses are examples. Configuring the ConnectX-7 ports for joining two units uses a separate procedure; contact sales for guidance.

INSTALL DAY

Installation day: responsibilities for business staff, IT and FIXER

Installation requires someone to unbox the unit and someone with the network information. Typically these are the rollout owner or general affairs team and the IT department. Where GaiXer Care is arranged, FIXER’s specialist team also participates.

Illustrative installation-day responsibilities (as of September 2026). Adapt to your organization; overseas support availability requires confirmation.

  • Have ready on the day: one AC 100–240V power outlet, one LAN port or Wi-Fi 7 connection details, a monitor/keyboard/mouse for setup, and an internal PC with current Chrome or Edge for testing.
  • Nothing needs installing on user PCs. A PC on the internal network can access the unit’s address in a browser. Firefox is also supported, but some features may require additional configuration.
  • Plan concurrency beforehand: there is no registration-count limit, but a few users generating responses simultaneously is the recommended starting point. For multiple sites or larger deployments, contact sales to discuss configurations, including expansion through the ConnectX-7 ports for joining two units.
The support page provides videos from unboxing to startup. The installation checklist brings together the checks to complete before delivery.
MAINTENANCE

Maintenance after deployment: hardware, software and updates

Phone maintenance has three parts: manufacturer coverage if it breaks, OS updates, and a help channel. Sovereign GaiXer uses the same three-layer approach. The Japanese offer includes all three in the unit price; confirm overseas eligibility and terms with sales.

Layer 1: three-year manufacturer warranty

The Japanese offer includes a three-year manufacturer warranty. Physical failures under normal use in accordance with the manual are handled through repair, replacement or other measures under the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Hardware is Lenovo ThinkStation PGX and follows Lenovo’s specifications, quality standards and warranty rules. Overseas coverage must be confirmed.

Layer 2: FIXER software support

Support covers the Sovereign GaiXer application, including operating guidance, investigation of problems and proposed workarounds. Contact procedures are specified in the included support guide and terms; overseas availability and language require confirmation.

Layer 3: LLM and feature updates

Updates to the installed LLM and product features are provided periodically. Administrators choose when to apply them, through the console when connected or by USB transfer when offline. OS and supplied-software vulnerabilities are monitored, with patches provided as needed.

FAQ

Networking and maintenance: frequently asked questions

What does network configuration involve?

It means connecting the unit to your LAN so employees can access it from their PC browsers. Use wired RJ-45 up to 10GbE or Wi-Fi 7 and configure it alongside language and keyboard settings. First-time OS setup requires temporary internet access; afterward, core AI use can operate offline.

Can it run on an internal LAN with no internet connection?

Yes, after initial OS setup and required updates are complete. Those first-time steps require temporary internet access. The installed LLM then supports core local AI processing on an isolated LAN, including networks in factories and research facilities. Follow the support guide for setup prerequisites.

Does connecting to the LAN send our inputs outside the company?

No. AI processing stays inside the unit and generates answers without transmitting inputs or referenced internal data to the internet. See the security and demonstrations page for operation under network isolation.

Should we use wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi?

Both are supported. Wired RJ-45 supports 10BASE-T through 10GBASE-T onboard, and wireless connectivity supports Wi-Fi 7. Choose according to available LAN ports and your organization’s network policies.

Can we assign a fixed IP address?

Yes. The default is automatic addressing. You can reserve an address for the unit’s MAC address on your DHCP server without changing the unit, or use Settings → Network → the wired-connection gear → IPv4 → Manual and enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS supplied by IT. Neither approach requires specialist commands.

What do users need on their PCs?

Only a browser. Current Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge versions are recommended. Firefox is supported, although some features may need additional settings. No dedicated software installation is required.

What should we submit for IT’s device-connection approval?

Use the security questionnaire responses (free PDF, Japanese). They cover data location, encryption, vulnerability handling and support in a form that can be copied into standard IT questionnaires. Contact sales if English documentation is required.

Is warranty and support included? Do we need another maintenance contract?

The Japanese offer includes a three-year manufacturer warranty and software support for the Sovereign GaiXer application, covering operating guidance, investigation of problems and proposed workarounds. Recurring monthly usage and license renewal fees generally do not apply, excluding electricity and other operating expenses. Confirm overseas warranty coverage, support scope and applicable terms with sales.

How are software and LLM updates installed?

If the unit has internet access, administrators can apply updates through the admin console. Otherwise, download the update on an internet-connected computer, transfer it using a USB drive or similar media, and apply it locally. Administrators choose the timing. If neither method is available, alternative arrangements can be discussed and may incur a fee.

What happens if the unit fails?

Under the Japanese offer, physical failures during normal use in accordance with the manual within the three-year warranty period are handled by repair, replacement or other measures under the manufacturer’s terms. First contact the support form with the unit’s serial number. Details are in the included support guide and terms. Overseas service eligibility and arrangements require confirmation.

Can someone help us configure the network?

Yes. The support page provides free guides from network connection to basic use. The Japanese GaiXer Care option provides 10 hours of initial implementation assistance for JPY 300,000 before tax and can be added with the unit or later. Contact sales to confirm overseas availability, language and service scope.

SUMMARY

Three points to understand networking and maintenance

  • There are three connection patterns. One LAN connection enables access through internal PC browsers. After required initial OS setup and updates, internet access is optional for core local AI use, and isolated networks work too.
  • The source illustrates roughly 30 minutes for basic installation once prerequisites are ready; initial OS setup and updates require additional time and temporary internet access. Advance work also includes eight company decisions about the network. Automatic addressing works by default; if needed, fix the IP with DHCP reservation or Manual settings.
  • Maintenance has three layers: manufacturer hardware warranty, FIXER software support, and online or USB updates. The Japanese offer includes a three-year warranty and these services in the unit price without monthly usage fees, excluding operating expenses. Overseas terms require confirmation.

This article reflects the Japanese source as of September 2026. Networking, warranty, support and update descriptions summarize the published FAQ, support, installation guidance, security page and security questionnaire responses (Japanese). Detailed terms are defined in the included support guide and terms. The 30-minute setup estimate assumes power and networking are ready. Responsibilities vary with your organization, network and operating policies. Static-IP steps describe the standard NVIDIA DGX OS network interface; labels and layout may change with software updates. Always use values assigned by your IT department. Prices are Japanese pre-tax prices; GaiXer Care is a paid option. Manufacturer warranty follows Lenovo’s terms. Confirm overseas prices, coverage, service scope and delivery separately. ThinkStation is a Lenovo trademark. “AI-OS” describes the software foundation for secure business AI.
